Reconnect accessory
Let the app tap the connect button for you when your Bluetooth accessory drops.
Before you start
- Your game shows the accessory button in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Your phone runs Android 11 or newer.
Steps
- Open Settings → Screen helpers → Reconnect accessory.
- Turn on Reconnect accessory automatically.
- If the app shows a notice, read it and tap Accept. You skip this if you already accepted it.
- Turn on the app in the Android Accessibility screen that opens.
Whether the screen helper is on is shown in the Screen access block above this section. If the helper is off, this section tells you and offers an Open settings button.
Result
About every minute at first, while your screen is on and the game is open, the app looks at your screen. It taps the connect button only if the accessory shows as disconnected. After failed reconnects, the app waits longer between checks, up to 5 minutes. Reconnect also pauses while Tap to Walk is on. While the game is itself searching for the accessory, the app waits and does not tap.
If the accessory fails to reconnect several times in a row, the app sends you a notification titled Accessory did not reconnect. Tap it to open the app. It clears itself once the accessory is back.
If the game is open but the connect button stays hidden for a long time, the app sends a notification titled Accessory control not found. Reconnect pauses: the app does not tap while the button is hidden, but it keeps checking. It taps again by itself once the button shows. The notification clears itself once the button is found again.
If the game stays out of front for about 15 minutes while your screen is on, the app sends a notification titled Reconnect is paused. This can happen after you open the app switcher and go back to the game. Tap the notification to open the game and start reconnect again. The notification clears itself once the app sees the game again.
Turn on Debug stats in Settings to see the last check in the floating widget. It shows when the check ran and what it found: no reconnect needed, reconnected, failed, paused, or control not found. It starts empty and clears when you turn the switch off.
If the last check says Paused: game not in front or Tap to Walk on, turn off Tap to Walk first. If Tap to Walk is off and the game is open, switch to another app, then back to the game (or tap the Reconnect is paused notification above). The app only learns which app is in front when you switch apps.
Limits and risks
- The app checks only while the game is open. It does nothing in other apps or when the screen is off.
- The app never taps when the button is hidden or looks connected.
- The app looks only while Pokémon GO is on your screen.
- The picture of your screen stays on your phone and is deleted at once.
- Turn the switch off at any time to stop the checks.
- Some games act on accounts that use automation. Use this only where you accept that risk.
